After filing your income tax returns (ITR), it’s important to complete the verification process to validate the returns submitted to the Income Tax department. The e-verification system introduced by the Income Tax department offers a convenient and secure way to authenticate your filed ITR online.

However, taxpayers have the option to choose between two methods for verification – the electronic e-verification process or sending a physical copy of the duly signed ITR-V (Income Tax Return Verification) to the Centralized Processing Center (CPC) in Bangalore.

Why e-Verification of IRT is Important?

  • Income Tax Returns: Without e-Verification, your ITRs will be considered incomplete and invalid, potentially leading to complications and penalties.
  • Other Tax-related Processes: e-Verification is also required for several other processes, including the verification of Income Tax Forms (online or offline), e-Proceedings, Refund Reissue Requests, Rectification Requests, Condonation of Delay in filing ITRs after the due date, Service Requests submitted by Enrolled Return Intermediaries (ERIs), and the uploading of ITRs in bulk by ERIs.
